Jody Cook BA, BSW, MSW, RSW, SEP, PMH-C

Registered Social Worker in Alberta and Northwest Territories

I am a Registered Social Worker with over 20 years experience in the social work field. Using a client-centered and strength based approach, my goal is to offer a
comfortable space to work collaboratively with clients in order to support them in achieving the goals they have set for themselves. I believe that the development of a new awareness supports opportunities for positive change and I will often invite clients to increase their awareness of mind-body connection and nervous system regulation (ex. fight, flight, freeze protective responses).

Before shifting into private practice as a therapist in 2020, I worked in a variety of areas including hospital settings (Obstetrics, NICU, ICU, ER, Stroke Rehab, Geriatrics), adoptions, group homes, long term care, corrections and substance use disorders.

My areas of special interest include trauma , first responders, perinatal mental health (postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, birth trauma), relationship issues including challenges experienced as a result of adjusting to parenthood, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and adjustment to life transitions. I have advanced training in Maternal Mental Health and have Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C).

In addition to working with individuals and couples, I also offer group therapy for women experiencing postpartum depression and/or postpartum anxiety.
